In a video released on June 13, he clarified that 360 Security software uninstallation is entirely possible and straightforward. He explained that users can easily uninstall the software just like any other program. The confusion surrounding this issue likely stems from the software’s self-protection features, which are designed to prevent malware from damaging the system.
On September 21, 2023, Zhou Hongyi responded to a user complaint regarding 360 Security Guard. The user had claimed that the software could not be uninstalled and that its folder was hidden. The frustrated user wrote, “360, can you be more shameless?” Zhou reassured users that they can uninstall 360 Security software through the settings or software manager. He criticized a viral video that misled people into believing the software was impossible to remove. Dragging the icon to the trash or right-clicking it does not fully uninstall the program.
Zhou then explained the reasoning behind 360 Security’s self-protection features. Since security software is meant to protect users from viruses, Trojans, and hackers, it needs these features to remain intact. If malware could easily remove or disable the software, users would be left vulnerable to attacks. The self-protection feature, therefore, does not block uninstallation but protects the software from malware damage.
