Xiaomi India tablet shipments surge by 201.8% and enter the top five market

On March 22, the well-known analysis agency Canalys released the latest data on the Indian PC market (including desktop computers, laptops and tablets) in the fourth quarter of 2023. Despite quarterly growth, PC shipments fell by 11% overall in 2023. Canalys predicts that the Indian PC market is expected to rebound strongly in 2024, with tablets growing the most, with a year-on-year increase of 24%. In the tablet market, domestic brands such as Lenovo and Xiaomi India tablet shipments entered the top five, among which Xiaomi’s shipments rose by 201.8%.

In the fourth quarter of 2023, Indian tablet shipments fell by 9% to 1.1 million units. As for brands, the top five are Samsung, Lenovo, Apple, Acer, and Xiaomi. The two giants that achieved year-on-year growth include Lenovo, Ace,r, and Xiaomi India tablet shipments, while Samsung and Apple have declined.

Specifically, Samsung shipped as high as 275,000 units in the quarter, with a market share of 26.0%, far ahead of other manufacturers; Lenovo and Apple’s shipments are not much different, with market shares of 14.8% and 13.3% respectively, but Lenovo It achieved a sharp increase of 130.9% year-on-year, while Apple fell sharply, reaching 65%. You should know that in the fourth quarter of 2022, Apple’s shipments reached 404,000 units, accounting for nearly 35% of the market share. Acer ranked fourth, with a market share of 11.8%, and a year-on-year increase of 79.2%.

Xiaomi ranked fifth, is far ahead in terms of growth, with market share soaring from 2.7% to 8.8%. If this growth momentum continues, competitors such as Acer will face tremendous pressure.
