US computer shipments fell by 18% in 2022! Dell leads Lenovo's third

“As computer shipments hit record highs during the COVID-19 pandemic, but subsequent inflation and demand slowed down, the U.S. computer market is currently in a long decline phase,” said Brian Lynch, research analyst at Canalys. “Canalys predicts that computer shipments will continue to decline until the fourth quarter of 2023, with an overall decline in 2023 expected to be 12%.

Looking ahead, as consumer spending returns to pre-epidemic levels, more and more companies are beginning to upgrade to Windows 11. In addition, education demand drives large-scale device updates, the computer market will accelerate recovery in 2024.

In the US desktop and laptop market in the fourth quarter, HP dominated the shipment volume with 4.6 million units, but due to the poor performance of the education industry at the beginning of the year, HP ranked second overall in 2022; Dell was the second-ranked manufacturer in the fourth quarter, with shipments exceeding all other suppliers in 2022; Lenovo shipped 2.4 million units in the fourth quarter, down 23%, ranking third in the current quarter and the whole year. Among the leading suppliers in 2022, Apple has the smallest decline. Its new M-series equipment not only promotes many old users to update their equipment, but also attracts new users. Asus ranked fifth in the top five in the fourth quarter, while Acer ranked fifth in overall shipments in 2022.
