“As computer shipments hit record highs during the COVID-19 pandemic, but subsequent inflation and demand slowed down, the U.S. computer market is currently in a long decline phase,” said Brian Lynch, research analyst at Canalys. “Canalys predicts that computer shipments will continue to decline until the fourth quarter of 2023, with an overall decline in 2023 expected to be 12%.

Looking ahead, as consumer spending returns to pre-epidemic levels, more and more companies are beginning to upgrade to Windows 11. In addition, education demand drives large-scale device updates, the computer market will accelerate recovery in 2024.
