[ Tinydeal Technology News]Samsung continued its tablet market growth in the second quarter (April to June), maintaining its position as the world’s second largest tablet PC brand. Compared with the same period last year, the company’s tablet shipments increased by 18.6%, but its market share fell slightly. Although Samsung didn’t launch any major new tablets during this period, its sales grew.
According to an IDC report, Samsung shipped 6.9 million Galaxy tablets in the second quarter of this year, accounting for 20.1% of the global tablet market. Tablet shipments increased by 18.6% in the second quarter of 2024 compared to last year. The company’s sales have increased despite not launching any new mainstream tablet models. Its growth comes primarily from commercial deployments, which often use Galaxy XCover devices.
Apple continues to be the world’s largest Samsung tablet growth brand. During the quarter, the company shipped 12.3 million iPads, capturing 35.8% of the market. Although shipments increased by 18.2%, Apple’s market share dropped from 37% in Q2 2023 to 35.8% in Q2 2024. The company launched new iPad Pros with tandem OLED panels from LG and Samsung. However, their sales did not meet expectations.
In the second quarter of 2024, Lenovo tablet shipments reached 2.5 million units, an increase of 16.7% from last year. Huawei benefited from its strong growth momentum in the local market, accounting for 6.8% of the market share. Its tablet shipments reached 2.3 million units, an increase of 40.3% from last year.
Xiaomi’s shipments almost doubled to 2 million units, taking a 5.8% market share. Its shipments increased by 94.7% year-on-year. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Tab S10 series later this year. The series is expected to include the Galaxy Tab S10, Galaxy Tab S10+, and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. The tablets are likely to use the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor, which is the first time Samsung’s high-end tablet series has used this processor.
