In August, online laptop sales in China reached 890,000 units, marking a 9.1% year-on-year drop. Meanwhile, retail revenue fell by 13.2% compared to the previous year.

Brand Rankings in Online Laptop Sales
By brand, Lenovo and Huawei continued to dominate, securing the top two positions. HP benefited from strong back-to-school promotions, boosting online sales by 11.7% year-on-year. On the other hand, ASUS struggled with its main models, leading to a 2.5% year-on-year decline in online retail sales. ThinkPad and Dell closely followed in rankings.
Apple saw a 14.2% year-on-year increase in August, mainly due to strong sales of its 15.3-inch Mac models. Honor also performed well, reporting an 11.7% rise in retail sales compared to the previous year. Xiaomi, focusing on budget-friendly laptops, achieved a significant 24.5% year-on-year increase in retail sales. Meanwhile, the Machinery Revolution’s Unbounded Series emerged as a major sales driver, with a remarkable 187.1% increase in retail sales.

Tinydeal learned that August saw a rise in the popularity of low-cost models, leading to a general price decline across categories. Specifically, the average market price for all models dropped by 179 yuan, settling at 5,227 yuan. Gaming laptops saw a larger decrease, with their average price falling by 379 yuan to 6,909 yuan.
Additionally, the price of high-resolution laptops experienced a quarterly drop of 492 yuan, bringing the average price down to 6,121 yuan. Similarly, 16:10 aspect ratio laptops and thin-and-light models also saw a 492 yuan decline, with their prices reaching 6,121 yuan and 5,696 yuan, respectively.
