Ishan Dutt, chief analyst at Canalys, said, “The second quarter of 2024 has greatly boosted AI PC market growth. Additionally, in June, Qualcomm released Copilot+PCs equipped with Snapdragon X series chips based on Arm architecture. As major processor suppliers advance their AI PC plans, they are expected to drive a significant increase in AI PC supply and user adoption in the second half of 2024 and beyond. Canalys predicts AI PC shipments will reach 44 million units in 2024 and 103 million units in 2025.
Apple leads the AI PC market with its entire Mac product line using M-series chips with neural engines. In the Windows market, AI PC shipments grew 127% month-on-month. Lenovo, the world’s largest PC manufacturer, has increased its AI PC shipments to 6% of total Windows PC shipments. The Yoga Slim 7x and ThinkPad T14s, equipped with Snapdragon X processors, have contributed to this growth. HP’s AI PCs account for about 8% of Windows PC shipments, while Dell’s share is just under 7%.
Dutt stated, “For PC OEMs, a key benefit of AI PCs is promoting the growth of high-end products. In Q2 2024, shipments of Windows PCs over $800 rose 9% quarter-on-quarter. Furthermore, AI PC shipments in this segment grew by an impressive 126%.”
