With the launch of Lunar Lake processors, Intel has taken an important step towards achieving its goal of shipping 100 million AI PCs by the end of 2025. This aligns with the growing AI PC market share in 2025, as AI PCs equipped with Intel Core Ultra processors have exceeded 15 million units since the fourth quarter of 2023. According to Tinydeal, shipments have doubled sequentially in the second quarter of 2024 alone. This growing trend shows a strong demand for PCs with integrated artificial intelligence capabilities.
According to Canalys research, AI PCs’ share of the Windows PC market is expected to reach approximately 10% in 2024, but will rapidly rise to 30% in 2025, and further increase to 50% in 2026. This prediction highlights the impact and increasing popularity of AI technology on the PC industry in the coming years.
At the 2024 IFA show, Intel launched its latest AI PC chip series Lake. This series of chips has cooperated with 150 independent software developers (ISVs) to develop more than 350 AI functions. According to reports, Lunar Lake chips meet Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC standards. They have been used in over 80 new PCs by 20 OEM partners.
Canalys stated that Intel faces challenges in consumer applications. However, its strong growth expectations and strategic alliances will likely make it a leader in the AI PC revolution.
