Apple is expected to launch its new Apple M4 Mac series launch conference in October when classic products such as iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini will receive upgrades to the M4 chip. Although the launch event may be scheduled for October, shipments of the new Macs may be delayed until November. The following are the five highlights of this M4 Mac series launch conference.
Comes standard with 16GB RAM
According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple will make at least 16GB of RAM standard in the new M4 Mac series. This change will cover the basic 14-inch MacBook Pro, new Mac mini, and new iMac. For the past eight years, Apple’s basic Macs have come standard with 8GB of RAM, and this upgrade is undoubtedly a welcome change, especially for Apple Intelligence, which requires increasingly more memory.
Mac Mini gets a major facelift
Recent reports indicate that the Mac mini will undergo the largest redesign in its 14-year history, with the Mac mini expected to be significantly smaller in size and may abandon the USB-A interface in favor of adding a USB-C port to make up for this change. Although the specific appearance is still unknown, as Apple’s cheapest Mac product, its updates are undoubtedly exciting.
USB-C interface is fully popularized in Magic accessories
With the release of the new iMac, Apple is also expected to update its range of Magic accessories, including mice, keyboards, and trackpads, to comply with the EU’s USB-C interface regulations that will be implemented by the end of this year. This means we may say goodbye to the Lightning port on Apple desktop accessories.
Deep space black color matching decentralized
Currently, this color scheme is limited to the high-end M3 Pro and M3 Max MacBook Pro. The basic M3 MacBook Pro still comes in deep-space gray. This could be due to a mismatch in the software or production schedule of the base MacBook Pro. The higher-end models might have been out of sync with the base version. With the launch of the M4 series, the space black color scheme is expected to become standard. This update will apply to Apple’s cheapest MacBook Pro.
New M4 Pro and M4 Max chips unveiled
New M4 Pro and M4 Max chips will also debut in high-end MacBook Pros later this year. The two chips are expected to be manufactured based on TSMC’s more efficient 3nm process, the same as the A18 and M4 chips. While there’s no exact information on the core count of either chip, they will undoubtedly bring faster performance.
