Looking back at Apple’s development process, it is not difficult to find the consistency of its chip update strategy. Gurman’s report confirmed this, revealing that the entire Mac series will gradually adopt M4 chips from the end of 2024 to early 2025.

The M4 chip series will feature at least three main versions for different market segments. Entry-level models, including the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and lower-end Mac mini, will have Donan chips. Mid-range products will use Brava chips. For the highest-end Mac Pro, Apple has developed a chip called Hydra. This chip will likely be the peak of the “Ultra” or “Extreme” tier.

In addition to the different versions of the M4 chip, performance improvements are also expected. Rumors suggest that the M4 chip will use the same three-nanometer process as the M3. However, Apple might partner with TSMC to adopt a more advanced 3nm version. This upgrade could improve both performance and energy efficiency.
