Apple classifies nine Macs as “obsolete” products, all of which have been released for more than seven years

Recently, Apple officially classified nine Mac computers released in 2015 and 2016 as “obsolete” products, marking them as part of the Apple obsolete Mac Devices 2025 lineup. Additionally, three slightly newer models were also included in the list of “old” products. This means that these devices will no longer receive official Apple repair services, and users can only rely on third-party repairs or handle them themselves.

Apple has recently classified several Mac devices as “obsolete” under its updated product classification standards. This marks a significant change for those owning older models. The phrase “Apple obsolete Mac devices 2025” refers to products that Apple has officially categorized as obsolete. These devices have been out of sale for over seven years. As a result, they will no longer be eligible for official repair services from the company. Users are advised to seek third-party repair options or handle issues themselves.

The nine Mac devices listed as “obsolete” this time include:

  • The MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, early 2016)
  • Released in early 2015, the MacBook Air (13-inch)
  • The MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, with 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports)
  • Another 2016 model is the MacBook Pro (13-inch, 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports)
  • The MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
  • The MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, early 2015)
  • In late 2015, the iMac (21.5-inch)
  • The iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5 inches, late 2015)
  • Lastly, the iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, late 2015)

It is worth mentioning that the list of products listed as “obsolete” this time includes the 13-inch MacBook Pro (equipped with 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports) released in 2016, which is Apple’s first model equipped with a Touch Bar. MacBook Pro models.

At the same time, Apple also added the following three Mac devices to the list of “old” products:
